Cinema and Publicity, a way to improve relations

In 1952, I took a leave of absence from the Ministry of foreign affairs and joined the Department of Mass Communications of Unesco. In 1953, I met André Bazin and François Truffaut, his protégé. They offered me to write in les “Cahiers du Cinema”. At the same time the monthly “Fiction” gave me a column on cinema. I worked from 1954 to 1960 with Roberto Rossellini on several project. In 1957 I co-wrote with him the script for INDIA, a feature film which was screened in 1959.In 1962 I published my first novel: "Les Quarantaines" which was widely reviewed in France. I was thus involved in the realms of cinema and literature, where I made many friends. When I became ambassador to the United Nations, I met many artists and intellectuals in New York. All these fine friends used to come and see me at the Embassy, that allowed me to introduce them to Iranian culture, which after all was part of my official job! So don't mind them in the show below...
